A SEASON TO SHNE
Together, we light the way.
“You are the light of the world… let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven.”
— Matthew 5:14–16
In this Season to Shine, we honor how God’s light continues to break through the darkness of exploitation, shining through every act of compassion and generosity.
Each gift, each prayer, and each act of kindness reflects that light—reminding every survivor that they are seen, loved, and created for a purpose far greater than their past.
Nia’s Story
Shining Through Determination
In this Season to Shine, Nia’s story reflects how, together, we light the way—offering hope, healing, and a path forward through compassion and support.
Nia never imagined she’d be living in her car with four children. But after a series of hardships, survival became her only focus. Each day was a balancing act: finding food, keeping her kids safe, and trying to hold onto hope in a world that often felt indifferent.
When she learned about The Landing, she expected judgment, but instead found compassion and support. She began meeting with a case manager who listened without interruption and without assumptions. Through trauma-informed care and consistent support, she started to feel seen—not just as a mother in crisis, but as a whole person with dreams, resilience, and strength.
With help from The Landing and their housing partnerships, Nia secured permanent disability housing. For the first time in years, her children had a safe place to sleep. This stability became the foundation for something more: a chance to dream, to plan, and to build a future for her family.

Together, we light the way.
In January 2026, we will celebrate The Landing’s 10th birthday, reflecting on a decade of walking alongside survivors with compassion, dignity, and hope. In the coming year our goal is to serve more than 700 survivors. This milestone is more than a celebration – it’s a powerful reminder of the work still ahead.
During this Season to Shine, we’re inviting you to be part of something bigger. Together, we can reflect God’s light through compassion and generosity, bringing hope and healing to survivors of trafficking and exploitation.
Will you help us create a future where every survivor in Houston is identified, welcomed into a safe and loving community, and empowered to reach their full potential?
